Monthly writing update #4
Checking in once again with my monthly writing goals and accomplishments!
Since I am silently writing over here on the side where no one but me can see, I decided to keep track of some writing goals, accomplishments and update type of things as I was went with the hope to see what I’ve actually done and maybe actually seeing my progress will help me see I am actually getting somewhere...
And I thought this might be some proof, that yes I am actually writing 😆
Check out previous months to compare:
Total Manuscript Wordcount (all Books): 170, 141
59, 011 (Book 1, Part 1) - Draft 2 complete
27, 370 (Book 1, Part 2) - currently working on Draft 2
41, 975 (Book 1, Part 3) - up next for Draft 2 revisions
Split the book into a total of three parts (I like it)
Part 2 is (roughly) Chapters 23-39
I’m going to have to go through and do another pass to actually make each scene clearer but just getting what parts I want in each chapter and getting the chapters in order is fine now
Decided a POV can come out of “Book 1” and the chapters can go in “Book 2”
I’m happy about this change. I think this was the problem POV all along as those other POVs I was considering to take out work better now
This is why I can’t outline because too much changes for me as I go
Having some ideas to fill into Part One scenes, because thanks brain for having these a few weeks ago when I was actually working on that??
Also had a moment of inspo for part of the “Book 2” open which got me into thinking how much of the current opening I need. It’s a direct continuation from “Book 1” so it could form the end of it instead but I just think where the end is is a good ending point. It might not be the best starting point though
It’d be fine as-is if serialising because it’d just be what happens next week, but split into separate books… I don’t think it works
May have to end up changing how I end “Book 1” to fix this, and have had some ideas… but I think it’ll be a couple of weeks before I’m looking more closely at that part
Kind of sad about it because I’ll lose my closing sentence 🥺
Had an idea that changed my ending (of “Book 3”) a bit. Not 100% set on it, just thoughts, which is making me reconsider genre because if I go this way I don’t think it’s what most people ‘want’ from romantasy 😶
Shared my first piece of written fiction on Substack, it’s brilliant

I love this! I may have to start doing something similar to keep myself on track
O.o SO MANY WORDS!
You're so much more organised then I am. Mildly jealous, likely never to get over it. And yes. You're Gertrude piece was powerful, perhaps the best thing i've ever read. RESTACKING
